...like a good soldier

It cannot be stated too frequently that the life of a Christian is a warfare, an intense conflict, a lifelong contest. It is a battle, moreover, waged against invisible foes, who are ever alert, and ever seeking to entrap, deceive, and ruin the souls of men. The life to which Holy Scripture calls men is no picnic, or holiday junketing. It is no pastime, no pleasure jaunt. It entails effort, wrestling, struggling; it demands the putting forth of the full energy of the spirit in order to frustrate the foe and to come off, at the last, more than conqueror. It is no primrose path, no rose-scented dalliance. From start to finish, it is war. From the hour in which he first draws sword, to that in which he doffs his harness, the Christian warrior is compelled to “endure hardness like a good soldier.”

I am seeing in my life and all around me believers who are battling and at times it would seem desperately.

So many are passing through what appears to be a constant attacking of the enemy.

At times when I pray it is disheartening as so many I know and love are suffering so intensely. Just naming their names seems it would take forever.

If we expect to live a battle free life we will be met with such bitter disappointment and our view of a perfect and caring Heavenly Father is in danger of being out of focus.

I pray that God's Spirit would show Himself mighty in your life and of those whom you love. God bless.

Allan: Hello, my friend. God is on His throne; His will be done.

There are many things He is allowing to temper His children for that which is ahead. He is preparing us for that which is to come, ultimately, to live with Him as Heavenly citizens.

God bless...
